Are you wonder What is Welder’s Lung? Well, Welder’s Lung, or referred to as Pneumosiderosis, is a lung disease that occurs with constant exposure to iron dust. Welder’s Lung commonly develops in welders, but usually takes years of working in the industry for symptoms to show. With chronic exposure to iron dust, people have also been known to develop Interstitial Lung DiseaseChronic Bronchitis and the worsening of Pneumosiderosis symptoms.

The symptoms that are sometimes associated with Welder’s Lung or pneumosiderosis are as follows:

  • Coughing and/or wheezing
  • Shortness of breath
  • mucus excess

It should be noted that symptoms have been known to occur in welders who also smoke.

Just like with preventing a flash burn, there are a lot of simple ways to help prevent Welder’s Lung. These include proper ventilation and appropriate headgear. If you start noticing symptoms it is highly advised to seek a medical professional for diagnosis and treatment.
